Sweet Memories: A Thanksgiving Tribute to my Grandma, Rita
This Thanksgiving, I am honored to share a special collection of desserts inspired by my beloved grandmother. These are the very recipes she lovingly shared with me once I started this business & that she made for our family each year, filling our hearts and home with warmth. Now, in her memory, I’m bringing them to this year's Thanksgiving menu, so that her legacy of love and sweetness can be shared with you and your family, too.
Grandma's Velvet Crumb Cake

This crumb cake is nothing like you've ever tried before & it's my sister Nicole's all time favorite. She refers to it as 'Grandma's cereal cake'...I don't know.
BUT, what I do know is that it is topped with a luscious blend of shredded coconut, rich brown sugar, finely chopped walnuts, butter, and cream. Once broiled, the topping transforms into a golden, caramelized layer, creating a delightful contrast to the single layer of soft, buttery cake beneath. Each bite is a perfect balance of nutty crunch, toasty coconut, and sweet, melt-in-your-mouth warmth.
Grandma's Ranch Cookies

I'm not even going to pretend like I know why these are called Ranch Cookies, but boy are they GOOD! These cookies are a blend of textures and flavors, featuring hearty oats, crispy rice cereal, and sweet coconut flakes. Each bite is wonderfully chewy and perfectly satisfying. Can you tell Grandma loved coconut?
Grandma's Mini Apricot Crescent Rolls

These are me and my mom's favorite! And what's even better is that my Grandpa gave my Grandma the nickname, 'Apricot' because she loved eating dried apricots so much.
These homemade, bite sized crescent rolls are tender, flaky, and filled with a sweet, tangy apricot jam. Baked to a golden perfection, the soft, buttery pastry wraps around the vibrant fruit filling. They are just incredible.

But, it is the cake I made for her birthday every year because it was her favorite dessert on my menu, so of course I'm including it in her collection.
